About Us

The State’s Attorney Office is responsible for prosecuting criminal cases and for representing the county with civil issues. The office consists of three full time attorneys, one part-time attorney, a crime victim/witness coordinator and two paralegals.

In addition, our office assists victims of crimes by aiding, navigating and guiding them through the court process. We provide victim services ranging from orders of proctections, drafting victim impact statements, seeking outside resources, etc. For crime victim assistance contact Don McDaniels at ext. 258

Furthermore, the office has implemented a bad check diversion program in order to collect funds to help businesses in the community recoup their losses from receiving insufficient checks. Moreover, this program helps those who have financial problems and have presented bad checks to businesses to avoid criminal prosecution. For more information about this program contact Don McDaniels at ext. 258.

The State’s Attorney office is located on the ground level of the Macoupin County Courthouse in Carlinville. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday by appointment.
